Diamond is a gentle soul who came to Palmetto Animal League broken in body, but far from defeated. Because of caring people like you, PAL kept Diamond from slipping through the cracks of the traditional sheltering system that euthanizes 2.7 million animals every year. When Diamond first came to our Adoption Center in Okatie, what remained of her front, left leg was a horrendous sight. It was a ghastly reminder of what this 2-year-old dog had been through in her short life.

The surgery to remove Diamond’s disfigured leg was a success. During recovery, it was as if she knew the best of her life was still ahead. With her leg no longer holding her back, the horrific circumstances that had defined Diamond’s life, prior to PAL, were no longer. Unfortunately, some of the emotions from Diamond’s past have been a little harder to heal. Her adopter, Katelynn, continues to work with Diamond to help her feel comfortable around the men in the family. It is a responsibility Katelynn accepts fully and thoughtfully, without hesitation, because Diamond is also now a member of the family.

“Her smile is so sweet it puts a smile on my face,” says Katelynn. “She can be sassy, and it makes me laugh so hard. Everyone in the apartment complex knows her name and loves her. She is my best friend.”

Thanks to you, Diamond went from suffering on the streets to become someone’s perfect companion. Because of your dedicated support, Diamond survived a grave injury, raised her puppies, and ultimately healed beautifully on her way to a wonderful new life.

When you give to Palmetto Animal League, you give pets a second chance at life.

The world is a better place because Diamond is in it. Thank you for supporting PAL in our unwavering mission to save as many precious lives as possible.

As I’m writing this holiday letter to you, I look around the PAL Adoption Center, and several things capture my attention. First, I see dozens of beautiful cats and dogs, each with their own story, peering back at me with hopeful anticipation. Second, I find comfort in the joyful, holiday decorations so lovingly arranged by PAL’s dedicated and compassionate staff and volunteers. And last but not least, I see adopters of different ages, races, nationalities, and backgrounds, each of whom understands the universal language that is the unconditional love of a rescue pet.

No matter how much love you or I will ever give to a pet, it pales in comparison to the wholehearted adoration they so willingly give to us. At PAL, it is our mission to be worthy stewards of this rare and absolute adoration. If there is anything I’ve learned, unequivocally, during my career in animal rescue, it is this. It only takes one. One adopter to give a broken pet new life. One foster to give an orphaned kitten a fighting chance. One volunteer to help shoulder the heavy load. And one donor to save an animal before it’s too late. My hope is that today, you will make a heartfelt donation in honor of Diamond and all that she represents. When a life hangs in the balance, you are there to tip the scales to the side of good, always in favor of the “underdog.”

Always for the Animals,

Amy Campanini
PAL President

P.S. Your gift of $25 gives a shelter pet a warm bed and daily outdoor playtime with her favorite toys.
