Ann McDonough

I have been a volunteer at Palmetto Animal League for ten years. There is no cause more dear to my heart. When I moved to South Carolina in 2009, I interviewed staff at each of the five shelters in the area at the time and toured their facilities. PAL was above and beyond the other organizations in three areas: volunteer involvement, compassionate care by staff, and a physical environment that gave each animal maximum exposure to an home-like environment. No animal was isolated in a cage unless physically ill or injured. Despite previous experience as a volunteer in the top rated shelter in Scituate, Massachusetts, where I volunteered for six years and served on their Board of Directors, PAL outpaced even that facility.

So here I am serving as the Board Chairperson for the most compassionate rescue organization in South Carolina. It is an incredible honor and responsibility.

I share my home with 9 PAL rescues, two ME dogs, Matlock and Loki, Louie the lover and 6 cats that prefer to remain anonymous.
