Storm Recovery Help Needed

Our post-hurricane plan is well underway at Palmetto Animal League, and our dedicated staff is working hard to restore normalcy in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
During the storm, our ‘Home Team’ camped out at the Adoption Center with over 140 animals not able to evacuate. They did an amazing job keeping the pets calm despite intense wind and rain. Meanwhile, our ‘Away Team’ evacuated more than 60 cats and dogs to Aiken, SC where they ensured the animals were safe and comfortable in a temporary shelter. Both teams truly came together for the animals, and a huge thank you doesn’t nearly express the gratitude we feel for these terrific people. They are heroes who have taken each challenge in stride and exceeded expectations throughout this ordeal. Once the roads are clear, our ‘Away Team’ will journey back to the Adoption Center.

In the meantime, we are preparing to provide for a surge of displaced animals caught up in the storm. With staff working around the clock to nurture the nearly 200 animals already under our care and an urgent influx of lost, stray and injured animals expected, we need your support now more than ever.
The PAL Adoption Center is also in dire need of hurricane recovery supplies. If you are able to drop off any of the following items, they will be greatly appreciated.
- Canned Cat Food
- Medium Sized Litter Boxes
- Pine Litter for Cats (Non-Scoopable)
- Paper Towels
- Trash Bags (All Sizes)
- 13 Gallon Trash Can & Lawn Trash Bags
- Bleach (1 Gallon Bottles)
- Liquid Soap (1 Gallon Bottles)
- Fresh Clean Towels
- Tractor Supply Company Gift Cards
- Pet Store Gift Cards
- Grocery Store Gift Cards
Thank you for the well-wishes and continued support. Our thoughts are with your families as you too recover from the storm.
