Adopting an Adult Cat Has Its Benefits

A tiny kitten named Mira arrived at PAL on April 12, 2014 along with her mom and three littermates, only 4 days old. Mira’s mother and siblings found their homes, but it was as if Mira was overlooked.

3 years, 8 months, and 14 days later (on Christmas Day) Mira finally found her family… our family. Her friendly, confident, curious and loving nature won our hearts.

Adopting an adult cat has its benefits. Mira’s personality was evident and one of the reason’s we fell in love with her. She’s a pro at the litter box and scratch box, and Mira has outgrown the kitten stage so there’s no climbing the curtains (or your pants leg).

Having never been in a real home before, Mira is learning new things every day. She is fascinated by solid doors, drawers and the sweeping second hand of the clock above our pantry door.

Mira is a very smart cat. She is quickly learning that jumping on counter tops is not okay, that hanging out on the couch with her people is worthy of lots of purrs, and that exchanging Eskimo Kisses with her two kitty brothers is better than hissing.

Mira thinks her brother Rupert is a hoot when he hides inside a paper bag, and she thinks basking in the sun on our screened porch is just divine.

Overlooked by so many, Mira is now loved beyond anything words (or even purrs) could ever truly convey.
