Find Your New Best Friend
Every animal deserves a second chance. At Palmetto Animal League, adoption is about more than finding a pet, it’s about creating lifelong, loving matches between animals and people
Our Adoption Center provides a safe, caring environment for cats and dogs while they wait for their forever homes. Through compassionate care, behavioral support, and guidance throughout the process, we work to make adoption a positive experience for both pets and adopters.
Our Adoption Center
Palmetto Animal League’s Adoption Center is the heart of our rescue efforts. Each year, we save the lives of more than 1,000 cats and dogs, providing them with shelter, care, and the opportunity to find loving homes.
While in our care, animals receive daily attention, enrichment, and individualized support. We focus on both physical health and emotional well-being to ensure each pet is prepared for a successful transition into a new home.
Our goal isn’t just adoption. It’s a successful, lasting relationship.

Visit our adoptable pets Monday through Saturday from 12:00–6:00 PM. Our team is dedicated to help you find the right match.
Step 2: Submit an Adoption Application
Complete the adoption application in person or on the website. Please visit the pet's profile that you're interested in.
Step 3: Meet with an Adoption Specialist
You’ll meet with one of our Adoption Specialists to discuss your application, lifestyle, and expectations to ensure a good match for both you and the animal.
Step 4: Application Approval & Adoption Fee
Once your application is approved, you’ll complete the adoption by paying the adoption fee. At this time, you’ll receive your adoption paperwork and a sample of your pet’s food.
Step 5: Welcome Your New Pet Home
If your pet is ready to go home, our team will bring them out to you. Cats must leave in a carrier, and dogs will be provided with a lead. Most applications are reviewed and approved the same day during our application review hours (Monday–Saturday, 12:00–5:30 PM), though some applications may take longer.
Behavioral Support & Training Philosophy
Successful adoptions don’t end when an animal leaves our Adoption Center, they begin there.
Palmetto Animal League places a strong emphasis on understanding animal behavior and supporting positive transitions into new homes. Through behavioral assessments, enrichment, and education, we help animals feel confident and comfortable while providing adopters with guidance and support.
Our approach is rooted in compassion, patience, and understanding. We believe informed adopters and supported animals create stronger, longer-lasting bonds.
