I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out and share a wonderful update, along with some photos of our sweet Betty. From the moment Betty joined our family, she has brought a burst of love and energy into our home. Her gentle spirit and playful nature have made such an incredible difference, and we truly couldn’t be more grateful.

As you know, we lost our soul dog Scotty after twelve beautiful years together, and the past few months have been incredibly difficult for all of us. Our other baby, Sophia, was especially heartbroken and struggling to cope with the loss. It was heartbreaking to see her so down, but Betty has been a remarkable companion. She has lifted Sophia’s spirits, rekindled her playfulness, and brought light back into her eyes. The transformation has been amazing—Sophia is so much happier, and our home feels whole again.

We are deeply thankful to the PAL team for bringing Betty into our lives. Your efforts have truly made a difference, not just for Betty, but for our entire family. Thank you for everything you do and for helping us find such a perfect match.

Sending lots of gratitude and puppy hugs your way!

Warmly,

The Lesane family

I am so thankful to be volunteer for Palmetto Animal League. My journey began before 2010 when I met with the now president of PAL, Amy Campanini. A friend introduced me to her as a person who helps save homeless animals. She had organized a group of people to care for these animals by fostering them in their homes, pooling resources, and keeping these sweet souls out of shelters that euthanize for space. Out of that group grew the dream that is now a reality. A physical building and people who believe every abandoned, neglected and homeless animal deserves a safe nurturing place to reside while they wait for a second chance at a loving and safe home. I have fostered pregnant cats and watched them and their kittens grow into happy and lovable pets. I have also fostered scared cats that have blossomed into loving and trusting companions. From bottle feeding to socializing to medical recuperation, I have been able to do all these things because the PAL family strives to be the best stewards for the animals in their care. PAL also provides support in the way of food, medication, materials and guidance for all foster families free of charge. My first cat from PAL was a terrified grey tuxedo named Socks. He had been found abandoned with his siblings. I doubt there would be many organizations that would have taken in such a “spicy” little kitten. As his foster mom, I had a chance to see him grow into a cuddle bug who loved to fetch and return a ball to my husband. We decided to adopt him and make him a permanent part of our family. Since then my home has averaged ten foster cats a year and I have witnessed my fosters move into their forever homes with their new families. All of this was possible due to the love, compassion, and dedication of the PAL family. The experience of being a PAL foster has enriched my life beyond measure and proven a second chance at love and life are within reach for people as well as our animal companions.

We adopted our dog Bingo from Palmetto Animal League in July. After suddenly losing our 1 year old dog who we got through a breeder, we knew a dog was still meant to be a part of our family and decided to go the adoption route. After visiting all of the local shelters we found Bingo at Palmetto animal with two other of his siblings. They were just 3 months old. This was a classic case of the dog choosing us. After sitting down on the floor to see the three pups Bingo instantly came over and fell asleep in my daughter’s lap. Two days later we brought him home and he has been the perfect addition to our family ever since. He has been the sweetest dog who loves nothing more than being close to his family. Especially my two children. He watches and protects them like they were his own. He has brought so much happiness to my children and they cannot wait to see him everyday they get home from school. And Bingo is always there waiting for them with his tail wagging 100mph and 100 kisses each for them. Palmetto Animal League made the adoption process an ease and even sent us home with a goody bag including some of the food he was being fed while at the shelter. It is clear how much they care for the animals that are with them and how much work goes into making sure all of their animals are healthy and ready for new homes.

Many individuals in the surrounding area experience food insecurity. In an effort to keep pets in their loving homes, PAL operates a Pet Food Bank as one of our outreach programs. Donated dog and cat food is collected at our Adoption Center. Volunteers mix the donated kibble and then repackage for distribution. Those packages are then distributed weekly at various food pantries in the surrounding area for those most in need. Any brand of Dry Cat Food , Dry Dog Food , Canned Cat Food and Dog Treats are appreciated. Open bagged food is also accepted. Gallon sized ziploc bags and brown paper grocery bags are appreciated. Donations are accepted at the Adoption Center and PAL Thrift during our regular business hours.
